Specialist of Education in Instructional Technology - Certification Track

Program Information

The Education Specialist leads to S-6 certification (service field) in Instructional Technology and will also increase your T-5 certification to a T-6. To qualify for a certificate upgrade and salary increase (based upon the salary structure of your employing school system), you must pass the GACE assessment in Instructional Technology currently under development by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and add the new field to your certificate.

The certification track in Instructional Technology prepares you to effectively integrate technology into your own teaching practice and to assist other educators in utilizing technology to improve the teaching and learning process. It prepares you to model best practices in the use of instructional technologies and to provide high-quality professional learning experiences for others.

This program is designed to meet the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GPSC) Instructional Technology standards for receipt of an S-6 (EdS). Nationally, the Ed.S. in Instructional Technology is aligned to ISTE's NETS for Technology Coaches developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
